![]() But if the fan base has turned their back slightly as I believe you are saying. My son has multiple penguins players posters on his wall and a whole drawer full of merch. Now all those young adults that they got in the door are in their late 30’s early 40’s, are having kids that they are turning into fanatics. ![]() And it worked brilliantly it turned a whole generation of casual hockey fans into absolute fanatics. But their gamble which worked was, let’s get all these 20 something’s in the building even with a loss at the turn style and rebuild the fan base along with the team. And the Penguins were taking a loss with that program. I was always a fan of the team, but because of the student rush program they had going on in my early 20’s (turning 40 this year) I got to go to a lot of games for sometimes as low as 30-50 bucks. Their current core fandom is built completely out of their actions then. They may want to take a playbook from the Penguins back during the start of the Crosby era rebuild. The subway system seems great, and the arena despite being 25-30 yrs old is still a great, well designed and maintained venue. I'd take the dumpy old Saddledome over CLC any day. In Calgary my buddy's place is a 5-10 minute walk from the Stampede grounds so I can't complain, but for Flames games it looks like they have ample parking, and the train station right there. I've been to hockey games in Calgary and Toronto. What's the game day experience like there? Is there parking around the arena? Depending on the day people have BBQs and pregame at home before, or go out after too.įor the Oilers, ya'll have a brand new arena and two of the best players in the world. But then too the Bomber games are less about football and more about the social/party aspect. ![]() I'd say here the average person is far more likely to go to a Bomber game, despite the Jets being more talked about. ![]() There's little in the way of tailgating here too, but a big part of the experience is taking a party bus to the game and getting a good buzz on that way. Really hey? Bomber games are an absolute party. ![]()
